CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The Academic Committee of the 9th National Congress of Teachers and Students of English wishes to invite teacher trainers, teachers, researchers, material writers, and other professionals in fields connected to ELT, translation and interpreting, the teaching of Spanish to foreigners, and education in general to share their views, ideas, projects and experiences with colleagues from all over the country.

The theme chosen for this year´s Congress: “Exploring Strategies and Models for Better Teaching” has been thought of as including two different dimensions: a practical one (strategies, techniques, procedures and methods for concrete classroom practice) as well as  a more theoretical one (the consideration of models, paradigms and systems of beliefs for teaching and learning languages). Therefore, presentations dealing with both concrete classroom applications and more general reflections on teaching, language and education are encouraged. Within this general framework, presentations that include reports of or proposals for innovative classroom practice or new theories, methodologies or ways of looking at language and language learning and teaching will be favoured.

Only proposals for WORKSHOPS with a strong component of participation of the audience will be accepted. All workshops will be 60 minutes long and workshop leaders should be prepared to conduct one repeat of their presentations.

The Committee will allocate the workshops in such a way as to offer the Congress participants as much variety as possible at any given slot and therefore expects workshop leaders to be prepared to make themselves available at any of the times

scheduled for workshops. Workshop leaders will be notified of the times when they are expected to conduct their workshops at least 20 days before the date of the opening of the Congress.

Of all the proposals submitted, the Academic Committee will select a maximum of ten for presentation during the Congress. The Committee will notify all applicants of their decisions stating clearly the reasons for rejecting or accepting the proposal.
