Dear SHARERS ,

What a better way to start this issue of SHARE than letting one of our SHARERS , Silvina Reneé Faure sga@surnets.com.ar from San Vicente, take the floor. Her words are our best editorial since Silvina´s attitude is precisely what we exopect from every SHARER :

"Teddy Stoddard's story was so touching that I simply felt I had to share it (needless to say that I cried quite a lot). I printed it and I put it up in the teachers' board at school. What a great thing to read precisely now, at the beginning of the school term! As teachers, we frequently find little Teddy Stoddards in our classrooms and this piece of writing helped me to remember that we mustn't be put out by the "curriculum" they bring, after all, they are just children, no matter how troublesome or naughty they are. They might be reacting to something we don't yet know. How important it is to give them a chance to make a difference! Thank You!

(1)  LONG HAIR : THE CASE FOR THE DEFENSE

Lorena Lara  <lorenalara@arnet.com.ar>, a dear SHARER with a great sense of humour sends us this joke about long hair:

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss his use of the car.

His father said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little, and get your hair cut, then we will talk about it."

A month later the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss his use of the car. His father said, "Son, I'm real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you
didn't get hair cut!"

The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know dad, I've been thinking about that. You know Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair."
His father replied, "Yes son, and they walked everywhere they went!"

VALUE ADDED MEASUREMENT (VAM)

Silvina Gvirtz  sgvirtz@udesa.edu.ar writes to Marina and me a message we just wanted to SHARE with you all ( I know yopu will excuse the Spanish)  :

(4) A MESSAGE FROM ST. NICK

Last week I had a meeting with a group of teachers from EGB 3 and Polimodal at Escuela Normal Superior in San Nicolás de los Arroyos. Some of those present
were friends from long ago. One of them was Patricia Gomez Abarzua, a dear old friend from the glorious times of the FAAPI Convention in San Nicolás back in 1992. Patricia writes to me :

Dear Omar,

Thank you for being my friend and having me in your Shares list...I feel most honoured. And as we are talking of true friendship I'm sending this  little reflection on the topic.

WHAT ARE FRIENDS MADE FOR?

F is for the fun times we share

R is for the respect we have for each other

I is for the interest you have shown in me

E is for your eagerness to help me

N is for all the nice things you do

D is for your dependability.

I can only say thank you, Pato for opening your heart to me. I know you know what it takes to be a good friend You are an excellent example of one. And as for our fellow SHARERS there is still a beautiful poem about teaching that Patricia has sent us .We promise to  publish in our coming issues.

(5) HUMOUR FROM CORDOBA

A very recent but very active SHARER, Christian Fernando Duarte Varela. <chrislio@arnet.com.ar> from Córdoba city writes : "I´m sending you the contribution. But this is just the first one of a long list of them I´ve got. I hope they can get published in SHARE. Enjoy it !

Competition

A shopkeeper was dismayed when a brand new business much like his own opened up next door and erected a huge sign which read 'BEST DEALS.' He was horrified when another competitor opened up on his right, and announced its arrival with an even larger sign, reading 'LOWEST PRICES.' The shopkeeper panicked, until he got an idea. He put the biggest sign of all over his own shop. It read... 'MAIN ENTRANCE'

Good for you Chris ! I hope you keep your word and keep on sending your contributions.

(6) MORE REACTIONS ON LITTLE TOMMY STODDARD

An enthusiastic SHARER , Maria Elisa Suárez from the city of Buenos Aires, Phoebe_Buffay@uol.com.ar , writes to us :

I have two things to comment on today, Today, while having lunch by the computer, I could read SHARE 12 and 13 and I came accross Teddy's story. God! I cry easily, I declare myself guilty of charge, but it is a wonderful story to read every once in a while to remember it and to read to others too! ( Be that teachers, lawyers, engineers or doctors ! ) Thank you again. That leads me to the one thing I wanted to SHARE. It's a poem my Language teacher gave my back in University, that I keep quite visible in my bedroom to remind me who to do things to please the One above and to fill my soul with happiness and peace. There it goes :

AT DAY´S END

Is anybody happier because you passed his way?

Does anybody remember that you spoke to him today?

The day is almost over, and its toiling time is through.

Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word to you?

Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's slipping fast,

that you helped a single sister, of the many that you passed?

Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or say?

Does the man whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?

Did you waste the day, or lose it?

Was it well, or sorely spent?

Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?

As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say,

''You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today?''

John Hall

I hope this can be SHAREd with the rest of the teachers and that they enjoy it and put into practice as much and often as I do.

Hope to read you next Sunday, if not sooner!)

Love                                                                                                         Maria Elisa, Capital Federal

(10) NO WONDER ENGLISH IS DIFFICULT TO LEARN

An old and dear SHARER ,Bernardo Banega (h) buck@mail.pccp.com.ar sends us this contribution about the very "nature" of the English Language. He says this was originally posted by Joanne Proctor, a teacher from Most Pure Heart of Mary School, Topeka, KS (USA), to the NET-HAPPENINGS list.

THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS SO VERY DIFFICULT TO LEARN BECAUSE...

Paula Peralta , a dear SHARER we mentioned earlier in this issue  sent us a collection of maxims about friendship from which we chose this one to end up our SHARE 14 with :

Friends, you and me.... You brought another friend....                                        And then there were 3....                                                                                 We started our group.... Our circle of friends....                                          And like that circle.... There is no beginning or end....

Let us all make a circle of friends, a circle of SHARERS and let us help others to learn the value there is in SHARING .                                                     Every week new friends join SHARE. We hope to hear from YOUR friends this week. And SHARE and the SHARING will have no end ...

HAVE A VERY HAPPY WEEK !
