A Word from the Editor

Rivers of ink have been used to express the awe, concern and the deep sorrow of the whole world confronted with a devastating and unexpected virus that has caused heavy loss of life and ravaged the economies of countless countries. Our country is to be counted among those countries, and although the number of deaths is not as high as that in many a developed country, the onslaught of the pandemic has badly disrupted our already battered economy and our lives. The decided action of teachers all over the country has saved our educational system from falling into a predictable crisis. The educational authorities, parents and students should be proud of and forever grateful to their teachers for stepping into the shoes of the technological specialist, a role they were ill prepared for in most cases, and keeping the flame of learning alive amidst the quarantine. Today, as 80% of the country is getting ready for a comeback to the classrooms we cannot help but be glad to know that the time of the long awaited for reunion of teachers and pupils seems to have apparently come, but, at the same time, sound a word of warning about the need to take all the indispensable provisions so that the lives of teachers, students and school personnel at large are not unnecessarily risked in the name of schooling.

This year we will miss our SHARE Convention but, as you very well know,we will always, God willing, be here to help you

Wishing you all a safe return to the classrooms

A very big and warm hug
