THE SHARE AWARDS

The SHARE awards are granted annually to educators for distinguished performance in the field of ELT in particular, and of education in general.

The SHARE awards recipients will be educators who have made a commendable contribution to the profession in the particular areas specified for each year

 

 

The SHARE Awards

THE 2016 SHARE AWARDS The awards set for this year are:

LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

This award aims at honouring a professional career that the Academic Committee has deemed to be meritorious and praiseworthy, not necessarily one that has met with extraordinary success, but one which deserves the profound respect of the ELT community.

 

MAGÍSTER MABEL GALLO

Magister Mabel Gallo  graduated as a Profesora en Inglés at Instituto Superior del Profesorado  “Dr.Joaquín V. González” . A Fulbright Scholarship enabled her to do  graduate studies in English and American Literature at Stanford University.  She also obtained a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from California State University, Los Angeles.

 

As a nonnative teacher of English at ICANA, Instituto Cultural Argentino Norteamericano, her  life progressed from being an English learner, to becoming  an English teacher at all levels, Head of Professional Development,  Assistant Director,  and “Rectora” of Escuela Superior, the   Teacher Education College of ICANA, the institution   where she spent 50 years of her professional life.

 

Mabel claims she owes a lot of her professional growth to networking with colleagues in her workplace and in the Professional Associations in which she has actively participated.  She is a close friend of SHARE’s and   is a founding member of Argentina TESOL, ARTESOL, an affiliate of TESOL international . She was elected to serve on the TESOL International Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006.

INNOVATION AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The recipient of this award will be an educator who has preferably created, or otherwise introduced a new methodology in our country which has been regarded as highly valuable by the Academic Committee.

 

PROFESORA ANA LABORDE

Ana María Laborde is a Profesora en Inglés from Facultad de Lenguas Modernas,Universidad del Salvador.

She also holds the Tecnicatura en Lengua Portuguesa-Ministerio de Cultura y Educación.

She has taught English for 44 years at primary and secondary state schools and has designed, written, taught and tutored Face to Face and on-line Professional Development Courses on English Methodology and Didactics  at CEPA ( Escuela de Capacitación Docente- Ministerio de Educación-Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires)

 

Co-author of the Diseño Curricular de Idiomas Extranjeros- 1988- Ministerio de Educación-Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires and of several publications on English Methodology.

Former  Supervisora de Idiomas Extranjeros and Supervisora Coordinadora de Idiomas Extranjeros - Ministerio de Educación-Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.

 

Ana participated in the implementation of the Language Schools in  Ciudad de Buenos Aires and she implemented the teaching of English from First Grade (5 hours a week) and a second language from fourth grade  –French-Italian or Portuguese- (3 hours a week) in all the schools belonging to the Ministerio de Educación de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The recipient of this award will be a professional, preferably an educator, who has founded or held distinguished managerial positions in educational enterprises related to English language teaching contributing to the achievement of the economic aims of the enterprise, as well as the advancement of our professio6n in our country.

 

MAGÍSTER JUAN CARLOS UDOVIN

Juan Carlos Udovin is a Magister in Psicología Organizacional y Empresarial (summa cum laude) from Universidad de Belgrano. He is a Licenciado en Psicología from Universidad Kennedy and Psicólogo Deportivo from APDA.  He is  also a Licenciado en Lengua Inglesa from Universidad del Salvador and Profesor de Inglés  from Instituto Superior del Profesorado  “Dr.Joaquín V. González”

 

 He is the founder and present general director at Instituto Superior Cultural Britanico, an official tertiary college of education and he is also a former secondary school head at Mariano Moreno School and Instituto Naciones Unidas del Mundo, a school which he has also co-founded.

 

Juan Carlos has also founded Stratford, a specialised English bookshop, cofounded Newbridge, a school specialised in Teacher Development and International Exams and has also opened the project ” ISCB Open Schools” which deals with academic agreements with universities, schools, schools of English and teachers.

Juan Carlos has taught English at all levels for 35 years now and has also lectured abroad (Peru, Chile and Uruguay) and in many Argentinian provinces. He is also a freelance consultant in Human Resources and Organizational Psychology.
