The New Rock & Pop for 2008: Techniques and Strategies
to work with songs in the Real Classroom

We all enjoy songs. There is no disputing that properly selected songs can exert a bewitching effect on our classroom audiences. But, apart from affording fun and motivation, songs, in the hands of the expert teacher, can also become an inexhaustible source of inspiration and material for language learning.
This presentation aims at practically demonstrating techniques, strategies (and those “little tricks”) you can use to work with songs in your EFL classrooms, even with students with very limited linguistic resources.

Powerful Ideas to use DVD´s with "tired and unmotivated" teenagers
More often than not, our teenage students tell us that they are not willing to work because they are tired. We will first consider possible causes for their lack of motivation by briefly reflecting on the profile of the contemporary adolescent. Based on the characteristics of this particular age group, we will offer a myriad of tasks to work on you-tube videos, music clips, short films and other DVD material that will surely stimulate your adolescent class and make their learning experience more enjoyable and
memorable.

Rocking the English Classroom with the songs your students will love

The use of upbeat songs and catchy tunes that somehow relate to their everyday reality will help us engage them in meaningful learning experiences. Let´s share some ideas and activities that will trigger your students’ critical thinking and will contribute to rocking our English classroom with uplifting songs and unforgettable lessons.

How to tie up a memorable lesson with adults using authentic videos
Teaching adults entails providing them with adequate tools so that they can accurately and effectively perform in real-life situations, therefore, the use of authentic material in teaching adults is a must. In this sense, DVDs become a most powerful resource when working with students of this age group. And most importantly, you do not need to be technologically sophisticated to get hold of authentic video material. All you need is there, at your fingertips.
The purpose of this workshop is to show how lessons can be wrapped up using appealing, fun and authentic videos for the stages of presentation, practice, consolidation and expansion. We will share a array of activities to exploit different segments from a variety of easy-to-access movies.
A list of Internet websites offering free movie downloads will also be provided
